A little bit about me…
The dreamer.
The believer in better.
The holder of hope.
The deep soul diver.
I can take you to the depths of yourself because I’ve been to the depths of mine.
I’ve always been able to see.
See what’s going on beyond what’s being said. See what needs to change.
But despite this deep inner knowing I’ve danced back and forth between trusting this knowing and feeling like a complete and utter fraud.
I knew, deep down, that when I listened to my own wisdom and knowledge and took bold action magic happened, results happened. But still I was fearful of this seemingly powerful capability I possessed. It didn’t fit in any of the boxes I had been given about how things were all mean to work. How could I explain in a corporate setting that my decision was based on feeling not facts? And at the same time I could not deny the thrill and deep satisfaction of seeing potential in motion when I simply trusted myself.
On the outside, I developed a reputation for taking complex problems and unravelling them with care to initiate new levels of growth and progress in my corporate roles as well as for my private clients. Backed with my business and psychology training (a Bachelor of Management + Social Science, 2 x Master’s degrees and extensive coach training) and a deep passion for leaving things in a better state than I found them I wound up doing ‘quality management and change management’ both on the organizational level and in my private client work at an individual level.
Personally, I found myself ambitiously pursuing higher and higher level corporate roles (and more qualifications) believing that to have the impact I dreamed of having I needed to be in a pre-defined position of power. I needed to be a decision maker. I needed influential. My input needed to matter.
Yet, as my reputation grew so too did the narrative of being ‘young’ and ‘bold’. I repeatedly heard the phrase “You have so much potential Roselle!”. This seemingly encouraging compliment became my curse. This curse would follow me for a few years before I came home to the knowledge that a deep trust in my ability to take bold action is what transforms potential into the deep satisfaction of knowing the change I have played my part in evoking.
If you are like me, you don’t want to ‘have potential...’ – you want to live in the knowing that did something, you were a part of that being forever different. We are conditioned to fulfil roles, and complete tasks for others and seek their validation, recognition and appreciation! But this all comes at a cost our sense self, our sense of wholeness. I’ve come to realize that those of us who see what could be better are the change. Those of us who see potential and possibility and have the courage to challenge the status quo and chart new paths, irrespective of our titles or public visibility are those who are changing the world. And this is liberating.
We don’t need to figure out what’s right for them. We need to figure out what’s right for us.
Rather than waiting to be seen, recognized or valued by those around us – we can claim our potential by deeply trust ourselves right now. We all have the ability to discern the next steps and take bold, grounded action when we move from the power of self-recognition.
No matter how far we rise, our unexplored an ignited potential beacons us deeper, as we seek to align our time and energy with truly rewarding endeavours instead of superficial distractions. The longing to be fully expressed is our innate magic, and in expressing our inner knowing we find the freedom to apply our idea’s in new roles, industries and contexts.
By being ourselves, we are the change.
